Our Story
Imagery Matters was founded with one powerful conviction: when Black children see themselves reflected in the stories they read, the lessons they learn, and the futures they imagine — everything changes. What began as a personal mission to fill a gap in culturally affirming educational resources has grown into a full collection of hands-on learning experiences designed to spark curiosity, build confidence, and open doors.
As a parent and educator, our founder saw firsthand how much it matters for children to encounter images, stories, and role models that look like them. That's not just representation for representation's sake — it's the foundation of self-belief. And self-belief is where every great future begins.
Our Mission
We exist to inspire children through creativity, culture, and real-world skills — helping families turn curiosity into confidence and curiosity into career pathways.
Everything we create is rooted in five core values:
- Representation — Children thrive when they see themselves in their learning materials.
- Culture — Honoring heritage is not separate from education — it is education.
- Faith — Our Torah & Culture collections weave together spiritual grounding and cultural identity.
- Education — Learning should be joyful, hands-on, and deeply meaningful.
- Career Exploration — We plant seeds early, helping children envision themselves in roles such as scientists, artists, entrepreneurs, and leaders.
Our Create-A-Vision Kits
At the heart of Imagery Matters are our Create-A-Vision Kits — hands-on activity kits designed to engage children in creative, culturally affirming learning experiences. Each kit is thoughtfully crafted to blend imagination with real-world skills, giving children the tools to dream big and build bigger.
Whether your child is exploring STEM concepts, diving into cultural history, or expressing themselves through art and storytelling, our kits meet them where they are — and take them further than they imagined.
Our Partnership with InnovatEd Learning
We are proud to partner with InnovatEd Learning, an organization dedicated to expanding access to innovative, equity-centered education for students who need it most. Together, we work to bring culturally responsive learning resources into the hands of more families — especially those in homeschool communities and underserved schools.
This partnership reflects our shared belief that every child — regardless of background or zip code — deserves an education that sees them, celebrates them, and prepares them for the future they deserve.
